Transient Student Aid & Transferring Student Aid

Transient Student Aid

Transient aid refers to financial aid for a student who is enrolled at a “home” institution but takes classes at a different "host" institution for a single term. More information about How to Apply as a Transient Student.

Aid amount is based upon total enrollment at both institutions.
For example, if you take 3 hours at your “home” institution and 3 hours at the “host” institution your total hours for financial aid eligibility would be 6 hours.  Coursework must apply to your degree program for federal eligibility.

Note:  Payment deadlines are generally prior to the start of classes.  Since the aid process involves coordination between both institutions, students should be prepared to pay out-of-pocket for transient costs and then get reimbursed after their aid is scheduled.

Transferring Student Aid

Financial aid is not automatically transferred when a student moves to a new institution. Instead, transferring financial aid is a multi-step process that involves the student, the previous school, and the new school. Students must take active steps to transfer federal aid, and state aid like the HOPE Scholarship is reviewed for continued eligibility at the new school.
